In 1991, Michael L.J. Apuzzo was appointed Editor of Neurosurgey, a position he held for 18 years. In 2009, he was appointed Editor-in-chief and Founder of WORLD NEUROSURGERY and WorldNeurosurgery.org. During this combined 24-year period, he has provided oversight to the review of tens of thousands of scientific manuscripts involving hundreds of thousands of reviews and subsequent adjudications.

Developing, submitting, reviewing, and publishing a scientific manuscript is a complex multifactorial process that encompasses a multitude of perspectives and issues. The following article by Michael L.J. Apuzzo provides a brief and simplified view regarding the overall matter.
